Sonoma State Sends Toros Men to Second Straight Home Loss, 59-47
Trevor Howe pours in 22 points to lead Seawolves to CCAA road win

CARSON, Calif.-Sonoma State got a game-high 22 points from forward Trevor Howe to send Cal State Dominguez Hills to a 59-47 California Collegiate Athletic Association loss Saturday night in the Torodome.

Sonoma State is now 8-5 overall and 5-3 in CCAA action. CSUDH, who has now lost seven of its past eight games, drops to 4-9 overall and 2-6 in league play.

Sonoma State went into the intermission with a nine-point lead, 30-21, thanks mostly to 6'10" center Chris Oliver's 11 first half points. Howe also added 10 in the first period.

SSU came out strong in the second half taking a 14-point lead, 40-26, with 14:41 left in the game after a layup from Howe. The Toros answered back cutting the lead down to five points with a 9-0 run over the following 3:03 capped by a 3-point shot from Justin Goree (Fairfield, CA) with 11:38 remaining in the game.

Sonoma took advantage of two turnovers and the Toros going 1-for-5 from the floor over the next five minutes to forge its lead back up to 14 points, 52-38, with 6:36 left. SSU's Ryan Hensell scored six points on two 3-pointer's to help the Seawolves gain the double-digit lead again.

Solid defense on both sides, coupled with eight turnovers from both sides, resulted in 16 combined points over the final 6:36 accounting for the 59-47 final.

Howe's 22 points came on 8-9 shooting from the floor. Oliver finished perfect from the field going 6-6 for 17 points and a game-high seven boards.

For CSUDH, Michael Crawford (Pacoima/Simi Valley HS) and Goree paced the squad with 12 points each. Crawford led the squad with four rebounds.

The Toros, who closed out its current four-game homestand with a 1-3 record, will hit the road for its next four games. They will be back in action on Friday, January 24, at Cal State Bakersfield. First-tip is set for 7:30 p.m.
