TURLOCK Saturday night, Shannon Donnelly
scored 26 points and pulled down 17 rebounds to lead Cal State
Stanislaus over Cal State Dominguez Hills, 69-53, at Warrior
Arena. The senior forward also had two assists and a steal
Saturday night to go with her proficient 8-for-12 shooting from
the field.
Cal State Stanislaus used a 16-7 run to start
the second half to build its lead to 11 at 46-35 with 11:37 to
play. The Warriors largest lead of the night was a 17-point
advantage with 3:14 to play after a layup by Donnelly to capped
off a 9-2 spur.
The evening didnt start out too hot as
Cal State Dominguez Hills made just two of its first 19 attempts
for 10.5 percent and the Warriors shot just 27 percent in the games
first 10 minutes.
The Warriors took a 28-27 lead at halftime with
Donnelly netting 16 of her points in the opening frame.
For CSU Stanislaus (9-6, 6-4 CCAA), Jackie Karp
scored a career-high 14 points while Alicia Coppola also chipped
in 14. Aprile Powell had nine points and 10 rebounds.
Cal State Dominguez Hills (5-9, 3-7 CCAA) was
led by Tameka Blue with 18 points and five rebounds. She also had
four assists and four steals. Teresa Copper added 13 points for
the Toros.
The Toros continue on the road next weekend as
they travel to UC Davis Friday and Chico State Saturday.
