DAVIS, Calif. -- Ryan Meilleur scored 26
points, 22 following halftime, and the Toros rallied from three
points down in the second overtime as Cal State Dominguez Hills
defeated UC Davis, 98-92, in double overtime in a California
Collegiate Athletic Association men's game in front of 1,622
Friday evening at Recreation Hall. The Toros earn its first road
victory of the season and first win at UC Davis ever in 13
meetings.
With the loss the Aggies fall to 7-9 on the
season, 4-7 in CCAA play. Dominguez Hills improves to 5-11
overall, 3-8 in conference action.
With UC Davis trailing by two and time running
down in regulation, Justin Stearns drained a three-pointer with
:14 left, putting the Aggies up 75-74. On the Toros ensuing
possession, Andre' Brown was fouled with :04 left, sinking the
first but missing the second, tying the score and forcing
overtime.
In the first overtime period their were three
lead changes in the opening three minutes before Brown's three
gave the Toros an 82-79 lead. But Fowzi Abdelsamad answered with a
three of his own, tying the score at 82-82 with :36 left. The
Aggies had one last possession in overtime, but Abdelsamad's three
bounced off the back iron, sending the game into double overtime.
It marked the second consecutive game UC Davis needed two extra
periods after defeating UC San Diego, 105-100, last Saturday in La
Jolla.
With the score tied at 84-84, Robert Ehsan
drilled a long three one minute into the second OT, giving the
Aggies a three-point lead. But they could not put the Toros away
as UC Davis missed its next three shots, allowing the Toros to tie
the game once again. The Aggies held their last lead at 92-91
following another Abdelsamad trey at the 1:04 mark, but that would
be all the scoring UC Davis could muster. Dominguez finished the
game on a 7-0 run, with the final five points coming at the foul
line.
Meilleur led the Toros with 26 points and a
game-high 13 rebounds, while Brown ended his night with 21 points,

points, his second consecutive outing of 30-plus points following
his career-best 37 at UC San Diego. Abdelsamad added three
rebounds and an assist while playing all 50 minutes. Dominic
Callori added 19 points and seven rebounds before fouling out
midway through the first overtime. Stearns finished with 14 points
while freshman Madison Butts added career-bests of 11 points and
eight rebounds.

night as they play at Chico State.
