The Chico State womens basketball team
ran its winning streak to three games with a 67-58 win over Cal
State Dominguez Hills in a California Collegiate Athletic
Association contest in Acker Gym.
Neither team shot well in the game. Both teams
were hitting just 36 percent from the floor, but Chicos
10-point halftime lead, 29-19, was a big enough cushion for the
win.
The Wildcats led the entire game until the
Toros tied it up 41-41 nine minute into the second half. Chico
built back up the lead and held on for the win. Dominguez Hills
got as close as five points with eight minutes remaining, but
could never bridge the gap.
It was Chico State's (10-6, 8-4 CCAA)
eighth-straight win over Dominguez Hills (5-11, 3-9 CCAA).
Leah Rice picked up her team-high sixth
double-double of the season with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Kim
Abts added 16 points and seven assists and Marissa White was the
only other Wildcat in double figures with 15 points.
Tameka Blue led the Toros with 15 points and
teammate Delaney Turner added 10 points, including a perfect
6-for-6 from the free throw line.
The Toros have a homestand next weekend with
games against Cal State, San Bernardino Friday and Cal Poly Pomona
Saturday. |
