QUICK RECAP:
The Toros finally got in the win column on the road with its first-ever victory at UC Davis last Friday (98-92) in two overtime's. The squad then fell Saturday by three points at Chico State (78-81) to have to settle for the CCAA two-game road split.

TOROS GET FIRST ROAD WIN OF YEAR IN DOUBLE-OVERTIME AT UC DAVIS:
Freshman center Ryan Meilleur (Lakewood/Artesia HS) scored 26 points, 22 in the second half, and the Toros rallied from three points down in the second overtime as Cal State Dominguez Hills defeated UC Davis, 98-92, in double overtime in a California Collegiate Athletic Association men's game in front of 1,622 Friday evening in Davis. The Toros were up by two with time running down in regulation, when UC Davis drilled a three-pointer with :14 left, putting the Aggies up 75-74. On the Toros ensuing possession, Andre' Brown (San Jose, CA) was fouled with :04 left, sinking the first but mission the second, to tie the score and send the game into overtime. With UC Davis trailing by two and time running down in regulation, Justin Stearns drained a three-pointer with :14 left, putting the Aggies up 75-74. On the Toros ensuing possession, Andre' Brown was fouled with :04 left, sinking the first but missing the second, tying the score and forcing overtime. In the first overtime period their were three lead changes in the opening three minutes before Brown's three gave the Toros an 82-79 lead. But Davis answered with a three, tying the score at 82-82 with :36 left. The Aggies had one last possession in overtime, but Fowzi Abdelsamad's three bounced off the back iron, sending the game into double overtime. With the score tied at 84-84, UCD drilled a long three one minute into the second OT, giving the Aggies a three-point lead. But they could not put the Toros away as UC Davis missed its next three shots, allowing the Toros to tie the game once again. The Aggies held their last lead at 92-91 following another Abdelsamad trey at the 1:04 mark, but that would be all the scoring UC Davis could muster. CS Dominguez Hills finished the game on a 7-0 run, with the final five points coming at the foul line. Meilleur led the Toros with 26 points and a game-high 13 rebounds, while Brown ended his night with 21 points, 15 coming after the intermission. Justin Goree (Fairfield, CA) added 19 points while Charles Logan (Moreno Valley, CA) poured in 16 and added six boards. The Toros shot 54 percent on the night and held a decisive 52-29 rebounding edge.

TOROS TRIP UP AT FOUL LINE, FALL AT CHICO STATE:
Junior Abel Velarde (Cudahy/Bell HS) poured in a career-high 20 points but it wasn't enough as Chico State held on to defeat CSUDH, 81-78, in a thrilling CCAA game on Saturday night in Chico. The Toros shot themselves in the foot, however, making only 54% (14-26) of its shots from the foul line. The fact that four Toro players fouled out of the game didn't help either. Andre' Browns layup with :37 to play gave CSUDH a brief 76-75 lead. But Daveris Hester's three-point play with :30 seconds left gave Chico the lead for good. The Wildcats converted 3-of-4 charity shots in the waning seconds to hold on for the victory. CS Dominguez Hills was led by Velarde's 20 points. Justin Goree added 16 points, Andre Brown scored 14, and Michael Crawford (Pacoima/Simi Valley HS) chipped in 11. Malik Harris (Oakland, CA) had a game-high nine rebounds.

TOROS SAVOR FIRST ROAD WIN:
The Toros were happy to finally win its first road game of the year. It was made sweeter by the fact that UC Davis has owned the Toros in Recreation Hall. CSUDH won for the first time at UC Davis in six previous road battles. CSUDH's 98-92 double-overtime win was only the second victory in 13 meeting's all-time. The Toros have now won the last two match-ups dating back to last season.

MEILLEUR RECORDS SECOND DOUBLE-DOUBLE:
Freshman Ryan Meilleur recorded a career-best 26 points and 13 rebounds en route to his second double-double of the year. Meilleur was dominating making 9-13 from the floor, including an 8-9 effort at the foul line. The 26-point effort was the highest individual offensive output of the year for the Toros. The 6-foot-8 center grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds, six of them on the offensive glass. He also swatted three shots on the night to give him 19 on the year.

TOROS OFFENSIVE:
Prior to Friday night in Davis, the Toros previous high for points scored in a game was 73 at Grand Canyon on Jan. 11. The squad shattered that with a 98 point outburst on Friday. Even if you take away the 23 points scored in the two overtime periods, the Toros still beat the previous team-high scoring mark with 75 points. In the two games last weekend, CSUDH scored 176 points for an 88 ppg average.

WHAT'S THE POINT?:
The Toros tried an experiment over the weekend in its games up North. The coaching staff decided not to start a point guard, instead using four wings and a big. In fact, a point guard didn't play a minute in the game against UC Davis in 250 combined minutes of play. Despite that, the Toros dished out a season-high 16 assists in the game. Against Chico, freshman point guard Jamel Gay sniffed the court for only four minutes, while the other point-man, Geovanny Aispuro, played in less than a minute. The experiment seemed to have worked as the squad split its games at two of the tougher places to win at on the road in the CCAA.

BROWN ON A SHOOTING SPREE:
Forward Andre' Brown has not been shy on the hardwood this year. Over the weekend, Brown took 37 shots, including 21 against Davis on Friday. The good news is that his shots have been falling. Brown has scored in double figures in four straight and ten on the year. In the past four games, Brows is averaging 16 ppg while making .433 of his shots (26-60).

Brown follows averaging 10.7 ppg in nearly 27 minutes a game. He leads the team on the boards grabbing 5.5 rpg. Meilleur is near the double digit mark offensively averaging 9.5 ppg. He leads the team in blocks (19), steals (17) and field goal percentage (.516).

FREE THROW PERCENTAGE CLIMBING:
Two weeks ago, the Toros were barely shooting 50% from the foul line as a team. The squad, despite suffering a relapse on Saturday night in Chico, has elevated that mark to a more respectable level. CSUDH is now making .599 of its attempts (185-309) at the free throw line. The Toros have shot over 70% at the line as a team in three of its last four games and in four of its past six.
