2002-03 Results 2002-03 Roster CCAA Standings
SCOUTING REPORT

SCOUTING GRAND CANYON UNIVERSITY The 'Lopes (6-13, 3-11 CCAA) have lost six straight, including four straight away games, so they will be looking for the homecourt advantage when they take on the Toros this Friday. GCU's last win was a 54-35 victory over Cal State San Bernardino on January 18. Lauren Westerman is leading the squad with 14.3 points per game, while Leah Smith is pouring in 12.9 ppg. Crystal Stephans is dominating the boards for GCU, bringing down 6.8 rebounds per game. Leah Smith and Lindsay Lawson are the playmakers for the 'Lopes, as they have recorded 75 and 71 assists respectively on the season. This is the 20th meeting between the two squads with CSUDH dominating the series 15-4. The last time these teams met was on January 11, 2003, when CSUDH posted a 63-45 win over GCU. In that game, Tameka Blue led the Toros and the game with 25 points.

SCOUTING UC SAN DIEGO The Tritons (5-14, 5-9) are coming off of two losses to Cal State Bakersfield and Cal State Stanislaus this past weekend. Ali Ginn is leading UCSD with 14.5 ppg, while Nicholle Bromley is adding 11.6 ppg. The Tritons are one of the best teams from the charity stripe, as they are connecting on 77% of their attempts. Stacy Gallagher-Bolton is pulling down a team-high 7.0 rpgs. The last time these teams met was on January 10, 2003, when the Tritons picked up their first win of the season with a one-point 57-56 victory. In that contest, Karina Siam put in a game-high 19 points for the Tritons. This will be the 16th meeting between the two teams with CSUDH holding a 12-3 lead.

TOROS BEGIN FOUR-GAME ROAD TRIP WITH GRAND CANYON UNIVERSITY
After stopping a six-game skid with an impressive 56-48 victory over Cal State San Bernardino on Friday night, the Toros were able to add a win to their ledger before beginning a four-game road trip this weekend, beginning with Grand Canyon University on Friday night. First tip is slated for 6:00 p.m. CSUDH will conclude this weekend's trip with UC San Diego on Saturday night. The road swing continues next weekend as they travel north for the Sonoma State/San Francisco State series. After that, the 2002-2003 season concludes with four home games. The Toros play a little better on the road as they are 4-5 in away venues and 2-7 at home in the Torodome.

BLOCK PARTY
It was hard to get a shot past junior Delaney Turner (Fremont, CA) on Saturday night. The forward had a personal-best three blocks in the 71-82 loss. Three blocks in a game is a team-high for the 2002-2003 season as well. The Toros got their hands on five blocks that game, a season-high. Sophomore Keesha Aldridge (Aiea, HI) is leading all players with 11, while Turner has seven on the season.

FROM THE CHARITY STRIPE
It is hard to figure out why teams would foul freshman phenom Tameka Blue (Watsonville, CA). Blue has gone to the charity stripe 82 times so far this season, which is almost 30 more attempts than any other Toro. Blue has connected on 65 of those 82 attempts to lead the squad with 79% accuracy from the line.

ASKEW ADDS TO HER SEASON TOTAL
Sophomore Octavia Askew (Van Nuys, CA) had a big night in the Toros loss to Cal Poly Pomona. In the first five minutes of the second half the Toros went on a 14-5 run, with 12 of those points scored by the forward. Askew was a perfect six of six from the field during that span. Her career-high scoring is 18 points, which occurred in the Toros loss to Sonoma State.

ALL BUT THREE
Freshman sensation Tameka Blue has scored in double-figures in 15 of the Toros 18 games this season. She had a season-best 25 points in the Toros defeat of Grand Canyon University. So far this year, she is averaging 13.8 ppg.

FRESHMEN SCORING
Two Toro freshmen phenoms Teresa Cooper (Simi Valley, CA) and Tameka Blue are leading the team in scoring. In fact, they are the only players to be averaging double-figures on the season. Together they have combined for 25.6 ppg, which is 42% of the average team scoring of 60.6 ppg.

PERKINS IS BIG ON THE BOARDS
Nakeisha Perkins (Tarzana, CA) has been one of the top rebounders throughout her career, and in her final season of collegiate basketball, she is going to go out with a bang. So far, she is leading the team with 7.0 rpg. She has brought down game-high rebounds in 12 of the Toros 18 games this season.

HEAD COACH VAN GIRARD
Coach Girard enters his fifteenth season at the helm of the Toros basketball program. In this time, Girard has posted a 185-191 record. He has led CSUDH to two consecutive CCAA conference titles (1994-96), and has been named CCAA Coach of the Year five times, including three in a row (1993-1996). Girard has coached one All-American, two All-West Region players, three CCAA MVP's and 29 all-conference players. His first win at the collegiate coaching level came on November 25, 1988, when he led CSUDH to a 82-68 victory against Incarnate Word.
