CARSON, Calif. Cal State Dominguez Hills
overcame a three-run deficit in the bottom of the ninth inning and
a blooper to leftfield by senior outfielder Mike Milstead gave the
Toros the go ahead run as they posted an 8-7 win in the bottom of
the 12th, over the visiting Coyotes of Cal State San Bernardino.
The win improves CSUDH to 5-3 overall and 2-1 in CCAA play, while
CSUSB falls to 6-2 overall and 1-2 in CCAA action.
In the bottom of the ninth down 7-4, CSUDH was
able to score two runs off of CSUSB errors, and used a hit by
junior shortstop Eric Pringle to send the contest into extra
innings. Pringle finished the day 2 of 4 with three RBI and one
run. He was also sharp on defense with four assists.
Both teams did not give up any runs until the
bottom of the 12, when Milsteads single closed out the
night. Milstead was 3 of 6 in the four hour and 29 minute contest.
Senior infield David Keesee also contributed to CSUDHs win
on the day with two hits, including a double, and three RBI.
The Coyotes got 14 hits on the day, including
five from junior Michael Rey, who was 5 of 6. Chris White was
charged the loss in the game, he is now 0-1 on the season. Senior
thrower Chris Ingstad picked up his first win of the 2003 season.
Ingstad faced 13 batters in the final four innings of play,
allowing only two hits and no runs.
The second game of the twinbill was rescheduled
due to unplayable conditions. The teams will now meet on Tuesday,
February 18 at 2:00 p.m. at Toro Field.
