(Rohnert Park) A Chris Getty
three-pointer with time expiring gave Sonoma State an exciting
69-66 win over Cal State Dominguez Hills on Friday night at
Seawolf Gym.
CSDH tied it up with a three-pointer by Justin
Goree with just :11 remaining, giving the Toros a shot at
upsetting the #4 ranked team in the region. Getty took the ball
and drove the length of the court, heaving up a shot from five
feet beyond the arc, only his second field goal of the night. The
ball found nothing but net.
The Seawolves (15-7, 12-5 CCAA) led by as many
as 13 points in the second half before the Toros began chipping
away with about nine minutes remaining. Dominguez Hills (6-16,
4-13 CCAA) took the lead on another three by Goree with 2:04
remaining before the Seawolves responded on both ends of the
court. Chad Hagedorn came up with two big blocks within a span of
twenty seconds and SSU made all four of their free-throw attempts
in the final minute.
Ryan Hensel led the Seawolves with 14 points on
4-of-6 shooting from beyond the three-point line. Trevor Howe had
13 points and a team-high six rebounds.
Michael Crawford led the Toros with 19 points
and eight rebounds.
Cal State Dominguez Hills returns to action
tomorrow night when they continue their northern swing at San
Francisco State. The Seawolves host Cal State L.A.
