(Rohnert Park) Cal State Dominguez Hills
freshman Tameka Blue had 21 points on 9-of-21 shooting to lead the
Toros (7-14, 6-11 CCAA) to an upset win over Sonoma State, 60-52
on Friday night at Seawolf Gym.
The Seawolves (13-9, 8-9 CCAA) never quite
found their stroke, shooting just 33% in the second half to drop
their fourth game in their last five outings.
Although SSU outshot the Toros in the first
half, the teams went into the break tied at 23. The Seawolves put
on a push in the early parts of the second half, stretching their
lead to 36-28 with 15:00 to go. From the 15:00 mark, the Toros
went on a 13-0 tear that put SSU in a hole they could not recover
from.
Tara Whiteside led Sonoma State with 21 points
and 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the year.
Cal State Dominguez Hills returns to action
tomorrow night when they continue their northern swing at San
Francisco State. The Seawolves host Cal State L.A.
