San Francisco, Calif. --- Cal State
Dominguez Hills sneaked out of the Swamp with a 55-51 win over San
Francisco State. The win evened the series as the Gators had
beaten the Toros 61-51 on Jan. 17.
This was a game that was not decided until the
last minute. In the first half, the largest lead was five, 11-6,
SFSU with 12:47 left to go.
In the second half, a jumper by Chrissy
Ridenour tied the game at 28-28 with 14:54 to go. The Toros went
on an 11-2 run to go up by nine with 10:48 left. The Gators fought
their way back in and took the lead, 49-48, on a jumper by Marla
Stewart with 1:08 left. With 41 seconds left, Monique Marquez
drained a three to put Dominguez Hills up, 51-49. SF State had a
few chances after that, but couldnt convert.
For Cal State Dominguez Hills (9-13, 7-11
CCAA), Tameka Blue had 15 points, eight rebounds, five assists and
five steals, Marquez had 12 points and Nakeisha Perkins had 10
points and nine rebounds.
For SFSU (9-14, 5-13 CCAA) Michelle Morgan had
13 points, five assists and five while Ridenour had 12 points,
eight rebounds and blocked three shots. Jennifer Kutz had 11
points, seven rebounds and blocked three shots. Kutz is currently
seventh in scoring with 952 points, fifth in career rebounds with
576 and second in career blocked shots with 138.
Cal State Dominguez Hills is back at home next
weekend with games Friday against Cal State Stanislaus, and
Saturday with Cal State Bakersfield.
