CARSON, Calif.- UC Davis outscored Cal State
Dominguez Hills 36-25 in the second half to go on to post a 69-60
victory over the Toros in the Torodome Saturday night.
The Aggies, down 33-35 at the half, got a
game-high 19 points from Sarah Allen to improve to 17-10 overall
and 13-9 in CCAA action. With the loss, the Toros will close out
2002-2003 at 9-17 overall and 8-14 in conference play.
Cal State Dominguez Hills took its first lead
of the night with three minutes remaining in the first half, off a
three point basket by freshman guard Tameka Blue. The Toros would
lead by as many as six, but 12 minutes into the second half, the
Aggies outscored the Toros 15-9. In a span of two minutes, UCD hit
two of their five three point baskets on the night.
One area where the Toros lacked tonight was on
the glass. UCD outrebounded CSUDH 48-34.
The Aggies also saw more chances from the
charity stripe as they were 14 of 24 from the line, compared to
the Toros who were just 4 of 6.
Octavia Askew, a sophomore guard, had a
team-high 14 points on the night for the Toros, going 7 of 16 from
the field. Blue added 13 points, with nine of those coming from
long range.
Senior center Nakeisha Perkins, playing in the
final game of her collegiate career, picked up a team-high ten
rebounds, while adding seven points to the board for the Toros.
