DEL MAR, Calif.-- Cal State Dominguez Hills
finished the first day of the 53rd Southern California
Intercollegiate Championship in ninth place among Division I &
II schools on Monday at The Santaluz Club in Del Mar with a team
score of 642. The University of San Diego is the team leader
through two rounds of action finishing 22-over at 590.
The tournament, hosted by UC San Diego,
consists of 16 teams from the NCAA Division I, II, III and NAIA,
including locals UCSD, USD and Point Loma Nazarene. UC San Diego
and Point Loma Nazarene each have A and B teams entered in the
event, while San Diego State has five athletes competing among the
nine individual participants.
Senior Jan Wong was the top performer for CSUDH
on the day, tying for 26th at eleven-over 153. He was followed
into the clubhouse by freshman Chris Whitaker 16-over 158, junior
Dave Linsangan (163, +21), senior Francisco Reynoso (168, +26),
and junior Darin Kurasaki (170, +28).
The third and final round of the tournament
will begin with a shotgun start at 8:00 AM Tuesday at The Santaluz
Club in Del Mar. |
