(Rohnert Park) Behind a strong outing from Sharleen Koenig and timely hitting from Danielle McDavid, the Seawolves took the first game of a doubleheader from visiting Cal State Dominguez Hills 2-1 on Saturday afternoon at Seawolf Field. SSU fell in game two by a 1-0 score.

Koenig (W, 3-7) threw seven shutout innings, striking out four to earn the win in game one. The Toros took the lead in the second when Natalie Greco singled home Renee Snyder. The Seawolves came charging back in the bottom of the third when McDavid¹s triple into right center scored Shannon Teverbaugh to tie the game at one.

The Seawolves went ahead for good in the sixth when Kelly Guisa walked with the bases loaded, pushing Melissa McGuire across with the winning run.

Game two saw an outstanding performance by Toro pitcher Kim O¹Hanian, who held the Seawolves to just two hits in seven innings of shutout softball.

Her Seawolf counterpart, Donna Callaway, wasn¹t far behind as she held the Toros scoreless for six innings before a Johana Orozco single scored Lori Moreno with the game¹s only run.
