Complete Box Score

CARSON, Calif.-Nationally ranked UC Davis used a 10 hit attack, including three homeruns, to defeat Cal State Dominguez Hills 7-5 in a nine-inning game this afternoon at Toro Diamond. The win, the first of the CCAA doubleheader, improves the CCAA leaders to 31-9 overall and 17-4 in CCAA action, while the Toros fall to 28-10-1 and 16-7 in conference play.

Game two was halted after six-innings due to darkness. The score was tied 10-10 with the Aggies opening up the seventh inning. The game will be finished at the CS Bakersfield tournament April 25-27.

In game one, UCD's Megan Turman was three of four from the plate with two of those hits being homeruns. Her first was to lead off the second inning and put the Aggies on the board 1-0. UCD would extend its lead to two when Susan Churchwell singled in an RBI. The Toros would get on the board in the fourth when Renee Snyder and Natalie Sharp would nail back to back three baggers. Snyder scored on Sharp's double to put the Toros on the board.

The scoring continued in the fifth as UCD used three hits to bring in two runs. Churchwell struck once again when she doubled to left center driving in two Aggie runners who reached base on singles.

Down 4-1, the Toros pieced together a three hit, four run inning to take the 5-4 lead in the bottom of six. CSUDH took advantage of Aggie errors and used a double by Sharp and a triple by Woltz to go ahead.

UCD would tie it up in the seventh when Churchwell sent a long shot deep over the scoreboard in centerfield. It was the Aggies second homerun of the game and the solo shot would tie the game up at five apiece and force extra innings. The Aggies would get two runs in the ninth as Megan Turman nailed her second homerun of the day over the left field fence. The shot would drive home Churchwell who was walked. The homer was the third of the game for the Aggies. CSUDH went down in order in the ninth as the Aggies took the 7-5 win.

Susan Churchwell, who was three of four with three RBI in the game, also got the win in the circle improving her record to 15-3.

Kim O'Hanian was charged the loss for the Toros. She fell to 13-4 on the season.

In game two, UCD scored two runs in the opening inning as Lindsey Roark led off the inning with a double down the left field line. After bases were loaded by walks, Lindsey Moore and Sue Yale had back to back singles to drive home two Aggie runs.

CSUDH would answer back in the bottom of the inning when Renee Snyder nailed a double down the left field line, scoring Dani Proctor who reached on balls. The Toros took a 4-2 lead in the second inning when a triple by Lori Moreno would score Kim O'Hanian who reached on a single. A single to the pitcher by Ally Webber would score Moreno and an error by the Aggies would allow Webber to score to put the Toros ahead.

But UCD would answer back as they used three hits, including another homerun by Churchwell and a double by Angie Linsenmeyer to score four runs and edge ahead 6-4.

However, this time it was CSUDH that could answer with a homerun as O'Hanian notched the first homerun of her collegiate career with a two run shot over the left field fence to tie it up at six apiece.

Scoring would continue in the fourth after the Aggies got three hits, including a double, and took advantage of two Toro errors to score four runs. Just as the game seemed to be getting away from the Toros, Val Long, the other Toro hurler, cracked a three-run homer to left field to cut the Aggie lead to just one at 10-9.

In the top of the sixth, Dani Proctor led things off with a single through the left side and went on to steal second base. Proctor would score on an error by the Aggie pitcher to tie up the game at 10 apiece. With one out and bases loaded, the UCD pitching and defense would shutout CSUDH.

The game was halted after six innings due to darkness.
