Six Toros Named to 2003 All-CCAA Softball Teams
Cal State Dominguez Hills places six players on all-conference teams

CARSON, Calif.-It has been announced that six Cal State Dominguez Hills softball players have been named to the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) all-conference teams as voted on by CCAA coaches. Senior outfielder Renee Snyder (Mater Dei HS) was named to the All-CCAA First Team.

Snyder, who was also named to the All-West Region Second Team this past week, led the Toros from the plate this season. She posted an impressive .328 batting average, tallying 45 hits, with 11 doubles and a team-leading three triples on the year. Snyder was an anchor in the outfield, seeing action in 53 of the Toros 55 games this season.

Two Toros, Kim O'Hanian (St. Paul HS) and Dani Proctor (Crescenta Valley HS/College of the Canyons), were named to the All-CCAA Second Team.

O'Hanian, a rookie hurler out of Norwalk, CA, posted a 16-8 record in the circle. She recorded a 1.69 ERA in 161.1 innings of action.

Dani Proctor, in her second year with CSUDH, was the Toros top second baseman this season. She started and saw action in all of the Toros 55 games this season. She hit at a .255 clip on the season with 41 hits and 17 RBI.

Freshman Cindy Gates (Silverado HS), sophomore Val Long (St. Mary's HS) and junior Natalie Sharp (California HS/Cypress JC) were voted onto the Honorable Mention squad.

Gates posted a .304 batting average on the season and recorded a team-leading 49 hits.

In her second season of Toros softball, Long went 15-6 in the circle. In 25 appearances and 140.2 innings of action, the sophomore out of Stockton, CA, struckout 73 batters to post a 1.64 ERA.

Natalie Sharp saw action in 55 games this season, starting 54 of them at shortstop. She recorded a .287 batting average with 47 hits, including 11 doubles, one triple and two homeruns.

The Toros wrapped up the 2003 season with a 37-17-1 ledger. The 37 wins mark set a new CSUDH record for wins in a season. Cal State Dominguez Hills made its first appearance in the NCAA tournament in 14 years.
