LAKEWOOD, Calif.--The 2003 Annual Toros
Scholarship Golf Classic held this past Friday, June 6th at the
beautiful Lakewood Country Club was a huge success. The annual
golf outing serves as a fundraiser for CSUDH Athletics with all
proceeds used towards student-athlete scholarships.
The Golf Classic, a four-man scramble which
began with a shotgun start at 7:00 a.m., was nearly sold out.
Golfers enjoyed a great day on the course which included a longest
drive and closest to the pin competition. A 2003 Corvette and
Harley-Davidson motorcyle were also on the block for the lucky
linkster to knock in a hole-in-one. Both prizes -- the car and the
hog -- made it back to their respective donors.
Participants showed up bright and early with a
6:00 a.m. check-in and started with a continental breakfast and
Starbucks Coffee. Following the tournament, everyone stuck around
for the post-tournament buffet followed by a raffle and live
auction.
"Cal State Dominguez Hills
Athletics thanks everyone that participated today to help make
this year's golf tournament so successful," said CSUDH
Athletics Director Ron Prettyman. "It was a great day of fun,
friendship building but most importantly, a tremendous day to
support our students which is why we are here in the first place."
The exact date has not been set for the 2004
Toros Scholarship Golf Classic, however, it will be held during
the first week of June. So be sure to mark your calendars and plan
on joining us for this fun, exciting event which benefits Toro
student-athletes.
