CARSON, Calif.--In a rematch of the 2000 NCAA II National Championship game, Cal State Dominguez Hills was victorious defeating Barry University, 3-1, in the FarWest Classic held at Toros Stadium. Senior All-American forward Eduardo Serrano (Toluca, Mexico) tallied what turned out to be the game-winning goal in the 63rd minute to lead the Toros. In the late game, Chico State defeated Seattle Pacific 3-2 on a late goal by Chris Wondolowski.

CSUDH, ranked No. 9 in the preseason polls, started the scoring in the 44th minute when Jesse Graham (San Diego/Point Loma HS) took a long pass from Victor Guerrero (Santa Ana/Century HS) and nailed his shot to the near post from 10 yards out.

Serrano then made it 2-0 in the second half at 63:17 when Wilmer Lopez (Inglewood/Inglewood HS) slotted a pass in the mouth of the goal that Serrano booted to the back of the net for his first goal of the year. Barry, who was ranked No. 8 coming into this weekend tournament, cut the game to 2-1 when Mike Lupton beat a drawn out Toro goalie, Javier Barragan, to the near post.

But CSUDH's Francisco Corona (Compton/Compton HS) gave the Toros some breathing room with his second goal of the season on a breakaway goal beating the keeper one-on-one at 83:16.

Cal State Dominguez Hills is now 2-0-0 to start the 2003 campaign while Barry University is off to an 0-2-0 start.

The Toros are back in action on Wednesday, September 3 hosting Western Washington University at 4:30 p.m.

In the final game of the FarWest Classic, Chico State University beat Seattle Pacific 3-2 on a late goal by Chris Wondolowski, his second of the game and fourth of the tournament.

Wondolowski got the Wildcats on the board first in the 9th minute of play when he beat SPU goalie James Ward to the near post from 10 yards out.

However, Jeremy Yerkes equalized for the Falcons taking a Sean Sandin pass and sending his shot to the far post from 25 yards away.

SPU took the lead at 45:03 when Nick Letts beat Chico goalie Dominic Jakubek to the far post off a Ross Villancourt feed. But Jaime Rodriguez knotted the game, 2-2, in the 64th minute taking a crossing pass from Wodolowski and sent his shot to the far post.

Wondolowski then tallied the game-winner at 83:33 taking a Kevin Kuiper cross inside the box and heading his shot just inside the near post.

Chico State is now 2-0-0 on the year while Seattle Pacific drops to 0-2-0.
