TURLOCK, Calif.--The Cal State Dominguez Hills
men's soccer team opened up California Collegiate Athletic
Association (CCAA) play Wednesday with a 3-1 victory on the road
at Cal State Stanislaus.
Freshman Mikael Hernholm (La Verne/Bonita HS),
in only his second game played this year, tallied the game-winning
goal in the 34th minute of play and scored a total of four points
in the game.
Michael Jimenez (Gardena/Bishop Montgomery HS)
put the Toros up 1-0 at 14:45 when he took a nice Hernholm feed
and knocked his shot to the back of the net.
Hernholm then scored the game winner at 34:01
on an unassisted goal to give CSUDH a 2-0 halftime lead.
The Warriors got on the board in the 66th
minute converting a penalty kick, making it 2-1.
But senior All-America forward Eduardo Serrano
(Toluca, Mexico) gave the Toros a cushion with his fourth goal of
the season off a Hernholm assist to close out the scoring.
CSUDH outshot Cal State Stanislaus 19-7 in the
game and had an 11-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Senior goalie Javier Barragan (Long Beach/LB
Jordan HS) registered four saves in the win.
Cal State Dominguez Hills (5-0-0, 1-0-0 CCAA)
is back in CCAA action this Saturday, September 13 hosting rival
Cal State Bakersfield. First kick is set for 3 PM.
