TURLOCK, Calif.--The Cal State Dominguez Hills men's soccer team opened up California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play Wednesday with a 3-1 victory on the road at Cal State Stanislaus.

Freshman Mikael Hernholm (La Verne/Bonita HS), in only his second game played this year, tallied the game-winning goal in the 34th minute of play and scored a total of four points in the game.

Michael Jimenez (Gardena/Bishop Montgomery HS) put the Toros up 1-0 at 14:45 when he took a nice Hernholm feed and knocked his shot to the back of the net.

Hernholm then scored the game winner at 34:01 on an unassisted goal to give CSUDH a 2-0 halftime lead.

The Warriors got on the board in the 66th minute converting a penalty kick, making it 2-1.

But senior All-America forward Eduardo Serrano (Toluca, Mexico) gave the Toros a cushion with his fourth goal of the season off a Hernholm assist to close out the scoring.

CSUDH outshot Cal State Stanislaus 19-7 in the game and had an 11-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Senior goalie Javier Barragan (Long Beach/LB Jordan HS) registered four saves in the win.

Cal State Dominguez Hills (5-0-0, 1-0-0 CCAA) is back in CCAA action this Saturday, September 13 hosting rival Cal State Bakersfield. First kick is set for 3 PM.
