LOS ANGELES - Cal State L.A. junior Jesus Leon flicked home a header on a pass from Juan Poblete with 5:44 left in regulation as the CSULA men's soccer team battled to a 1-1 tie with second-ranked Cal State Dominguez Hills this afternoon at Jesse Owens Stadium.

Cal State Dominguez Hills now stands 6-0-1, 2-0-1 CCAA, while Cal State L.A. improves to 3-1-2, 1-0-2 CCAA. With the tie, the teams remain 1-2 in the CCAA Central Division. CSUDH owns seven points in league play while CSULA owns five.

The first half was played extremely even, with CSUDH goalie Javier Barragan making a couple of nice saves to keep the Golden Eagles off the scoreboard. The Toros controlled the offensive play in the second half, outshooting CSULA by a 14-5 margin the period.

CSUDH got on the board at 83:27 when Victor Guerrero converted on a penalty kick after Cal State L.A. was called for a foul inside the penalty box. The Golden Eagles answered 49 seconds later when Leon's diving play in front of the net connected with a perfect pass from Poblete to knot the game at 1-1. Both teams would have excellent chances to score in the 20 minutes of overtime, but neither could find the back of the net.

CSUDH is back in CCAA action this Friday at Toro Field against Cal State San Bernardino.
