CARSON, Calif.--The No. 2-ranked Cal State
Dominguez Hills men's soccer team racked up its fifth shutout of
the year in defeating visiting Cal State San Bernardino, 2-0, in
California Collegiate Athletic Association action Friday night at
Toro Field.
With the win, CSUDH remains undefeated with a
7-0-1 overall record and 3-0-1 mark in CCAA play. CSUSB drops to
5-3-0 and 2-2-0 in league action.
Senior All-American forward Eduardo Serrano
(Toluca, Mexico) registered what turned out to be the game-winning
shot at the 12:42 minute mark with his fifth goal of the season.
After a mad scramble in the mouth of the goal which saw two Toro
shots cleared at the goal line by Coyote defenders, Rick Cobb
(Downey/Warren HS) slipped a short pass to Serrano, who then
tapped his shot home to the near post.
The score stayed that way until 60:27 when
Victor Guerrero (Santa Ana/Century HS) took a nice give-and-go
from Francisco Corona (Compton/Compton HS) and rifled his shot
passed CSUSB goalie Joseph Kulm from 22-yards out making it 2-0.
The Toros defense shutout the Coyotes the rest
of the way to notch its fifth doughnut of the year. Javier
Barragan (Long Beach/LB Jordan HS) registered three saves for the
win.
Cal State Dominguez Hills returns to action on
