CARSON, Calif.--Cal State Dominguez Hills came
back from a one goal deficit to defeat visiting Cal State San
Bernardino, 2-1, in California Collegiate Athletic Association
action Friday night at Toro Field.
The win elevates CSUDH to 7-1-0 overall and a
perfect 4-0-0 in CCAA action. CS San Bernardino drops to 5-3-0 and
2-2-0 in league play.
Amy Raymond put the Coyotes on the board first
at 14:01 taking a Jessica Chase pass and beating two defenders to
the far post for a 1-0 lead.
But fifteen minutes later, CSUDH's Lisa Marino
(Hesperia/Hesperia HS) tallied the equalizer with her first goal
of the year. Marino hit a 30-yard blast to the upper far net just
off the hands of CSUSB goalie Melody Spoelstra.
In the second half, Sarah Gibson (La
Habra/Sonora HS) knocked in her first goal of the season at 66:18
off a direct kick from 20-yards away for the game-winner. Marino
was credited with the assist.
Cal State San Bernardino outshot the Toros
13-11 in the game.
Alba Garcia (Chino/Don Lugo HS) registered four
saves in between the bars to earn the win. Spoelstra had two saves
in the match but suffered the loss for the Coyotes.
CSUDH is back in CCAA action on Monday,
September 22 hosting rival Cal Poly Pomona. First kick is set for
7 PM.
