September 26, 2003

PHOENIX, Ariz.--The Cal State Dominguez Hills men's soccer team blanked Grand Canyon in California Collegiate Athletic Association action Friday night in Phoenix, AZ, 4-0.

CSUDH, ranked No. 2 in the latest NSCAA/adidas national polls, elevates to 9-0-1 and 5-0-1 in league play.

Wilmer Lopez scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal in the 24th minute of play. Lopez dribbled down the left side into the box, beat two defenders then the keeper to the far post making it 1-0.

Eddie Gonzales-Pinto made it 2-0 in the 73rd minute on a 20-yard blast to the near post off a Victor Guerrero assist.

Chris Wimmer scored the Toros fourth goal in the 88th minute taking a 40-yard free kick over the Antelope defense from Guerrero and one-timed his shot to the far post.

Francisco Corona closed out the scoring one minute later in the 89th minute. Goalie Javier Barragan sent a long punt to Corona who beat two defenders then the goalie one-on-one.

Barragan, who was never really tested on the night, earned his sixth shutout of the year.

CSUDH is back in CCAA action this Sunday traveling to UC San Diego. First kick is set for 7:00 p.m.
