LA JOLLA, Calif.--In a wild game down in San
Diego, the Cal State Dominguez Hills men's soccer team saw their
unbeaten streak come to an end with a 3-2 loss to UC San Diego in
California Collegiate Athletic Association action Sunday night.
CSUDH, ranked No. 2 in this week's national
poll, is now 9-1-1 on the season and 5-1-1 in CCAA play.
UCSD jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the
first minute of play. However, Francisco Corona equalized five
minutes later at 6:11 off a corner kick from Wilmer Lopez.
Corona gave the Toros a 2-1 lead before
halftime at 38:24 hammering a 25-yard blast from the left side to
the upper far corner of the net.
However, UC San Diego scored two unanswered
second half goals to upset Cal State Dominguez Hills.
In all, CSUDH was issued seven yellow cards and
two red cards - in the final minute of the contest - to Kevin Sosa
and goalie Javier Barragan. Both will have to sit out the Toros
next game against Seattle University on Oct. 3rd.
CSUDH outshot UC San Diego 19-11 on the night.
