SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.---The No 5-ranked Cal
State Dominguez Hills men's soccer team and San Francisco State
played to a double overtime draw, 2-2, Sunday afternoon in
California Collegiate Athletic Association action at Cox Stadium.
CSUDH is now 12-1-2 and 6-1-2 in league play
while SFSU is now 4-10-1 and 2-6-1.
The Toros struck first at the 8:45 mark when
Eddie Gonzales-Pinto (Torrance/N. Torrance HS) and Victor Guerrero
(Santa Ana/Century HS) combined on a set piece. Gonzales-Pinto
took a cross from Guerrero and headed home his shot to give the
Toros a 1-0 lead.
SFSU tied the match at one at the 61:18 mark on
a penalty kick. This coming after CSUDH goalie Javier Barragan
(Long Beach/LB Jordan HS) saved a PK earlier in the second half to
preserve the Toro lead.
SFSU broke the tie at the 77:31 mark when Paul
Carter connected for an unassisted goal.
But the Toros tied the match up at the 86:31
mark when Eduardo Serrano (Toluca, Mexico) connected on a free
kick. From 20-yards out, Serrano sent his shot over the wall and
into the upper far post for the equalizer.
Cal State Dominguez Hills was not able to take
advantage of some prime time chances in the extra periods, having
to settle for the draw. In the match, CSUDH outshot the Gators
26-8.
Javier Barragan had two saves in goal for
CSUDH.
The Toros are back in league action on Friday
when they host Chico State in the first game of a doubleheader
beginning at 4:30.
