Complete Box Score

CARSON, Calif.--Chico State's Amy Swanson's second half goal turned out to be the game-winner as the Wildcats held on to upset host Cal State Dominguez Hills, 3-2, in California Collegiate Athletic Association women's soccer Friday night at Toro Field.

CSUDH, ranked No. 13 in this week's NSCAA/adidas national poll, falls to 11-3-1 and 8-1-1 in CCAA play. Chico State improves to 9-5-2 and 6-3-1 in league action.

Jessica Parker gave the visitors a 1-0 lead at the 15:32 minute mark, scoring on a header off a corner kick from Lexi Sheridan-Coons. Just over a minute later, Swanson scored her first goal of the game taking a Sheridan-Coons pass at the top of the box and blasting her shot to the far post for a 2-0 lead.

The Toros trimmed the deficit to 2-1 at 28:53 when Nikki Szlak (Long Beach/Los Alamitos HS) tallied her third goal of the season. Erin Fieger (Manhattan Beach/Mira Costa HS) sent a cross inside the box from the left side to Kristen Walsh (Lakewood/Mayfair HS), who headed her pass to Szlak, who then sent her shot to the near post.

It stayed that way until the second half when Swanson scored her second goal of the game, giving the Wildcats a 3-1 cushion. Swanson took a long pass down the sideline from Liz Malm before beating a Toro defender on her way past Toro goalie Alba Garcia (Chino/Don Lugo HS) at 52:51.

CSUDH came back and made it a one-goal game with 27 minutes to play on an amazing goal by Chantel Eastwood (Garden Grove/Mayfair HS). Eastwood, while on the ground, took a pass from Sarah Gibson (La Habra/Sonora HS) from the right side, and booted her shot from 20 yards out over the keeper's outstretched hands to make it 3-2.

Cal State Dominguez Hills appeared to tie the match with nine minutes left in regulation when Tanya Wilson (Palm Springs/Palm Springs HS) knocked in a goal. However, the Toros were called offsides on the play, negating the goal.

The Wildcats' defense would make it stand up the rest of the way to earn the upset win.

CSUDH outshot Chico State 19-9 in the game and held an 8-1 advantage on corner kicks.

Angela Orr earned the win in goal with five saves in the match. Garcia took the loss for the Toros while making three saves.

Cal State Dominguez Hills is back in CCAA action on Sunday hosting UC Davis beginning at 12:30.
