Carson, CA -- Cal State Dominguez Hills juniors
Jenny Buncio (Carson, CA/West Torrance) and Alejandra Contreras
(El Monte, CA/Mt. SAC) posted respective ninth- and 13th-place
finishes at the 2003 CCAA Cross Championships Saturday morning in
Chico, CA, earning All-CCAA honors and leading CSUDH to an overall
5th-place finish.
Buncio, a Carson native, finished the 6K race
in a season-best time of 22:22.1, finishing just over a minute
behind Cal State L.A.'s Sarah Bouchard, who won the event in
21:21.6. Contreras also posted a season-best time in the
Championships, running 22:28.7. By finishing in the top 15, Buncio
and Contreras each earn an All-Conference nod, giving the Toros
their first two All-CCAA selections of the 2003-04 school year.
