Toros Remain Undefeated With Win Over Notre Dame De Namur, 65-43
Zipporah Chase and Natasha Gray's double-doubles lead CSUDH to non-conference win

CARSON, Calif.-Zipporah Chase (Carson, CA/Carson HS) and Natasha Gray (Long Beach, CA/LB Poly HS) led Cal State Dominguez Hills to its fifth-consecutive win to start the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds each as the Toros cruised in non-conference action over Notre Dame de Namur at the Torodome Saturday night, 65-43.

With the victory, CSUDH improves to a perfect 5-0 while Notre Dame de Namur fall to 4-7.

Notre Dame de Namur took its last lead of the game, 6-5, on a three-pointer from Melissa Bayol at 16:38 in the first half. CSUDH went on an 12-5 run over the next six minutes to take a 17-11 lead at 10:11 after a Gray jumper. The Toros would hold the Argonauts to just eight points in the last ten minutes of the half to take a 30-19 margin into the locker room.

Midway through the second half, the Toros used a 14-3 run to take command by 23 points, 56-33, with 4:19 left in the game. Notre Dame de Namur would get no closer than 17 points down the stretch as CSUDH went on for the 65-43 victory.

Cal State Dominguez Hills took advantage of its size tonight outscoring the Argonauts 30-8 inside the paint. The Toros also made Notre Dame pay for its mistakes tallying 27 points off of 22 turnovers. CSUDH also picked up the pace in the second half shooting 48% from the field (14-29) after making only 28% (10-35) of its shots in the first 20 minutes.

Chase finished 7-of-15 from the floor for 16 points while grabbing 11 boards, seven of them off the offensive glass. Gray came off the bench for 16 on 5-of-9 from the field with 11 boards, eight of them on the offensive side.

For the Argonauts, Bayol led the team with 12 points while Gabby Magpiong came off the bench to contribute 10 and a team-high six rebounds.

Cal State Dominguez Hills is back in action on Monday travelling to Costa Mesa, CA to take on Vanguard University. First tip is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. against the Lions.
