CARSON, Calif.--Cal State Dominguez Hills
women's soccer defender Sarah Gibson (La Habra, CA/Sonora HS) has
been named to the NSCAA/adidas NCAA Division II Second-Team
All-America squad, it was announced by the NSCAA All-America
Committee.
Gibson, a 5'10" junior from La Habra, CA,
also earned First-Team All-CCAA and First-Team All-Far West Region
recognition while starting all 23 games for the Toros. Gibson
continues a long and rich history of past CSUDH All-Americans, but
is the first since the 1997 season. On the year, Gibson tallied
seven points, scoring two goals and earning three assists, ending
the regular season tied for the conference's 18th position in
assists.
"Sarah really set herself apart
as one of the premier defenders at any level on the West Coast,"
said Head Coach Joe Flanagan. "She anchors our backline and
can truly dominate. We are looking forward to having her back next
year."
The Toros ended the year 17-4-2, 13-2-1 CCAA,
falling to CCAA-rival UC San Diego on penalty kicks (4-3) in the
NCAA II Far West Regional Championship game. This season's 17-win
total improves upon last year's record by six wins.
