ROHNERT PARK, Calif.--Sonoma State used solid
pitching and a potent offense to shutout Cal State Dominguez Hills
Sunday afternoon to earn the four-game California Collegiate
Athletic Association series sweep.
SSU starter William Krout was superb pitching
eight shutout innings while striking out six Toro batters. The
Seawolf offense provided more than enough runs blasting four
homeruns on the day, including a pinch-hit grand slam in the
eighth inning off of CSUDH reliever Jose Montes.
The Toros, now 3-8 and 0-4 CCAA, managed only
six hits in the game, led by Houston Hernandez who finished
2-for-3 at the plate.
CSUDH starter Ramon Mata suffered the loss
going the first 5.2 innings allowing six runs on 10 hits while
striking out five.
Cal State Dominguez Hills is back in action on
Tuesday when they host Azusa Pacific. First pitch is set for 2 PM.
