Roadrunners Dominate Toros, 76-44, in Women's Basketball

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- The Cal State Bakersfield women's basketball team posted a 76-44 victory over Cal State Dominguez Hills (11-12, 7-11 CCAA) at the Centennial Garden on Saturday night.

Katie McElree made nine of her 15 points from behind the three-point arc for the Runners. Shakaria Jones provided a spark off the bench with 13 points.

The Roadrunners went on an 18-4 run from the 7:41 mark to the end of the first half. The Toros started the second half with a cold 0-for-15 shooting and shot 22.6 percent for the second half. The Roadrunners shot 44.4 percent from the field and made 20-of-23 free throws on the night.

Cal State Bakersfield won the battle of the boards by grabbing 49 rebounds to the Toros Janelle Mack and Margaux Hallahan all had double-digit rebounding efforts for the Runners.

Zipporah Chase had a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds for the Toros. Joi Cooper contributed nine points on the night.

The Toros make their southern trip next weekend, stopping at UC San Diego Friday night, then playing at Grand Canyon, Saturday.
