Bakersfield, CA -- Cal State Dominguez Hills'
Bryan Newman fired a three-under par 141 over the first two rounds
of the 2004 Family Motors Invitational on Monday, a two-day event
taking place at the Seven Oaks Country Club in Bakersfield. As a
team, the Toros currently are in 14th place as they finished at
601, trailing leader Cal State Bakersfield by 42 strokes after the
first day of competition.
Individually, Newman was two strokes off Cal
State Stanislaus' Ryan Thornberry, who fired two rounds of 71 and
68, good for five-under par and the day-one lead. Newman leads
teammate Dave Linsangan (Paramount, CA/Carson HS) by 10 strokes
and Jason Olguin by 12 strokes as CSUDH concludes its first
invitational of the season on Tuesday afternoon, finishing with 18
holes.
Kyle Wilson's 156 and Chris Whitaker's
(Inglewood, CA/Inglewood HS) 165 round out the Toro contingent.-
