SAN BERNARDINO — Cal State San Bernardino and Cal State Dominguez Hills combined for 41 runs and 57 hits Saturday in a wild and wooly California Collegiate Athletic Association baseball doubleheader and each walked away with a victory.

The Toros held off the Coyotes in the bottom of the ninth to win the first game 12-11 and the Coyotes put together three big innings in a row for a 13-5 victory in the nightcap. The two teams will make up Thursday's rainout at noon Sunday at the Toros park in Carson. CSUSB won Friday's game 10-5.

CSUSB is now 8-7 overall and 4-5 in the CCAA while the Toros are 6-14 overall and 2-9 in the CCAA.

In the opener, the Toros pounded Coyotes starter Kyle Holden for nine runs, six of them earned. The winning run came in the top of the ninth when Jason Flores scored on a wild pitch after reaching first on a fielder's choice and advancing to third on a single by Fernando Hernandez. It gave the Toros a 12-9 lead.

However, CSUSB rallied behind singles by Marcos Ramos (who was 4 for 4 in the game) with a grand slam home run and seven RBI) and Jake Puckett. Ramos came home on a wild pitch. After Dorian Dixon singled, Puckett scored on a groundout to make it 12-11. However, Toros closer Ryan Smith got Jeff Weld to line into a double play to end the game.

In the nightcap, the Coyotes were leading 6-2 when they erupted for five runs in the fourth inning for an 11-2 advantage. The big blow was a two-run double by Aaron Rice, who went 4-for-4 with three RBI in the game. The Toros responded with three runs in the fifth, but Darren Koshko came on in relief of Enoc Jorrin to shut them down over the final two frames.
