Walnut Creek, CA -- Cal State Dominguez Hills
pitcher Lisa Grove (Buena Park, CA/Kennedy HS) has been named the
Wilson / California Collegiate Athletic Association Softball
Pitcher of the Week for the week of March 8-14.
Grove, a junior from Buena Park, fired a
complete-game three-hit shutout at Chico State in the second game
of the March 12 doubleheader to lead the Toros to a 4-0 win. She
struck out three and walked only two while retiring the Wildcats
in order three times. She finished the game retiring 13 of the
last 15 batters she faced, including nine-consecutive Wildcats
from the end of the third inning through the middle of the sixth
frame.
Grove helped her own cause with two hits and
two RBI, including a solo home run to lead off the sixth inning.
The Pitcher of the Week honor is Grove's second
of the year, following her first Pitcher of the Week honor
received for hurling a no-hitter at Western New Mexico in her Toro
debut (Jan. 26-Feb. 1).
CSUDH faces nonconference foe Vanguard on
Friday, March 19, with first pitch of game one scheduled for a
1:00 p.m. start.
