Honolulu, HIHawaii Pacific won the final
six games of the seven-game series with a 7-4 victory over Cal
State Dominguez Hills at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, HI.
CSUDH is now 9-28 while HPU improves to 14-15.
The Toros jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the
first. 1B Daniel Pilimai drove in two runs on a double deep to
right field. After he advanced to third on a groundout, Pilimai
came home on a sacrifice fly from CF Jason Flores making it 3-0.
But Hawaii Pacific answered with four runs in
the bottom of the frame the big blow coming on a 3-run homerun
from Ikaika DuPont.
CSUDH tied the game in the third on an RBI
single from DH Ruben Salazar. However, the Sea Warriors took the
lead in the fourth with two runs and added an insurance run in the
fifth for the final margin of 7-4.
Toro starter Ryan Smith (2-2) suffered the loss
lasting only 2/3 of an inning giving up four runs on four hits.
James Dodson came on and pitched well going 1.1 scoreless innings
while allowing only one hit. Gus Hernandez and Ryan Owen pitched
the final 4.0 innings allowing three runs on eight hits.
Pilimai led the Toros at the plate going
3-for-4 with two RBI on two doubles.
Cal State Dominguez Hills returns home to host
CCAA foe San Francisco State in a four-game series beginning on
Friday at 2:30 p.m.
