Patterson, CA -- Cal State Dominguez Hills
junior Bryan Newman (Temecula, CA/College of the Desert) fired a
9-over par 153 (76, 77) on day one of the CCAA Golf Championships
to lead the Toro linksters at the Diablo Grande Golf Course,
hosted by Chico State. As a team, the Toros shot an aggregate 630
through 36 holes, finding themselves in 8th place among the 8-team
field.
Cal State Bakersfield boasted both the top team
and individual finisher on day one, as D.J. Fernando shot a 139
(72, 67) to lead the Roadrunners to an aggregate 582 on this
afternoon.
Toro Kyle Wilson (San Diego, CA/Hilltop HS)
finished the first day one stroke behind Newman as he shot a 154
(78, 76), while Dave Linsangan's (Paramount, CA/Carson HS) 157,
Francisco Reynoso's (Compton, CA/Cerritos CC) 166 and Chris
Whitaker's (Inglewood, CA/Inglewood, HS) 185 rounded out the Toro
contingent.
The CCAA Championships conclude on Tuesday,
