Carson, CA -- Cal State Dominguez Hills men's
head basketball coach Larry Hauser announced his resignation this
afternoon, effective August 20, 2004. Citing personal reasons,
Hauser will remain with the Toros basketball program as it begins
an immediate search for his replacement.
"I want to thank Dr. Lyons, Dr.
Bowman, Ron Prettyman, the Cal State Dominguez Hills Athletics
Department, my coaching staff and players for all they've done
over my seven years here," Hauser says. "I wish them
nothing but the best, and look forward to continuing my coaching
career in my home state of Illinois."
Having just completed his seventh year at the
helm of the men's basketball program, Hauser guided the Toros to
an 8-19 overall and 6-16 conference record this season, good for a
9th-place tie in conference.
The Toros enjoyed an early four-game win streak
as part of winning five of the season's first eight games, and won
two of its final three contests, including a convincing 67-58
victory over San Francisco State in the season finale at the
Torodome.Hauser guided the Toros to their best finish in their
first season under his tutelage, leading the Cardinal Red &
Gold to a runner-up finish in conference during the 1997-98
season. In his seven years, Hauser compiled an overall record of
60-125, and 46-98 in the CCAA.
Prior to his tenure at CSUDH, Hauser served as
an assistant men's basketball coach at Santa Clara University,
where he helped lead the Broncos to four NCAA and four NIT
Tournaments in 14 years.
From CSUDH Athletics Director Ron
Prettyman, "We thank Larry for his seven years of great
service, not only on the basketball court, but also as a valued
member of the CSUDH Athletics Staff. He is a member of the Toro
family, and we wish him well in his future athletic endeavors."
Inquires about this position should be sent to
the CSUDH Athletics Department, Men's Basketball Chair of Search
Committee.
