Arcata, CA -- Cal State Dominguez Hills senior
Natalie Sharp and sophomore Cindy Perry have been named to the
NCAA Division II West Region All-Tournament Team, it was announced
today by the tournament committee.
Sharp led the Toros with a .400 batting
average, slugging two home runs in the three games played. The
senior belted three extra base hits in the playoffs, drove in
three RBI and scored two runs, amassing a slugging percentage of
1.100. She tallied 11 total bases in starting every game at
shortstop, handling all 13 chances.
Perry received an at-large bid for her efforts
during the playoffs, accumulating a .364 batting average while
starting all three games at third base. The Toros' leadoff hitter
scored three runs and drove in one RBI, successfully stealing the
only base she attempted. Defensively, Perry was solid, handling
all four chances at the "hot corner."
The Toros finished their season by posting
their first-ever NCAA postseason victory by virtue of their 7-0
win over Cal State Bakersfield Thursday, making consecutive NCAA
postseason appeareances, setting nine school records and
registering 33 wins this season, the fourth-consecutive season in
which the Toros have won at least 30 games.
