Lakewood, CA --The 2004 CSUDH Toros Scholarship Golf Classic was held last Friday at the beautiful Lakewood Country Club in Lakewood, CA, nearly selling out a major fundraiser which benefits CSUDH student-athlete scholarships.

Welcome

The Golf Classic, a four-person scramble event which began with a 6 a.m. registration and continental breakfast and a 7:00 a.m. shotgun start, provided a festive forum for all golfers to support Toro student-athlete scholarships. Linksters enjoyed a dewey morning at the country club as they participated in a hole-in-one contest and longest drive and closest-to-the-pin events, with prizes ranging from a 2004 Chevrolet SSR and PING irons to $500 worth of golf shop credit.

After the competition, the golfers enjoyed a buffet lunch sandwiched between a raffle and silent auction. Items for those events consisted of a courtesy suite to a designated L.A. Galaxy home soccer game at the Home Depot Center, tickets to a Dave Matthews concert, an autographed George Foster jersey, an autographed Jarrod Washburn baseball, passes for four (4) to Disneyland’s Club 33 and assorted CSUDH merchandise.

“The 2004 Toro Scholarship Golf Classic was a huge success,” said CSUDH Assistant Athletics Director Lamel Harris. “It continues to grow on a yearly basis and this was the best Classic yet. Thank you to all who participated in giving their time and energy to benefit Toro student-athlete scholarships. We look forward to seeing you next year.”

Next year’s Toro Scholarship Golf Classic has been confirmed for Friday, June 3, 2005, at the Lakewood Country Club.
