CARSON, Calif.-- Eleven home games and a
three-game road trip to the Great Northwest highlight the 2004 Cal
State Dominguez Hills men's soccer campaign.
The Toros, ranked No. 9 in the final 2003
National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) national
poll, open up the season with three scrimmages, including those at
NCAA Division I Cal State Fullerton on Saturday, August 21 and at
home against Lewis University (IL) on Thursday, August 19. It was
a 1-0 win against Lewis in the NCAA semifinals that propelled the
Toros to the national championship in 2000.
CSUDH will then make the trek to the Great
Northwest for a crucial three-game road trip. The Toros will do
battle against three formidable NCAA West Regional opponents in
Seattle University (Aug. 26), Seattle Pacific University (Aug. 28)
and Western Washington University (Aug. 30) before returning home
on September 3 to face Baker University (KS) in its home opener.
The California Collegiate Athletic Association
(CCAA) conference schedule will kick off in Carson against Cal
Poly Pomona on Tuesday, September 14. CCAA rival Cal State
Bakersfield will visit on Saturday, October 2. The Toros will
close out the eleven-game home schedule against conference foe UC
San Diego on Saturday, October 23 before finishing the regular
season on the road at Cal State L.A. (Oct. 27) and Cal Poly Pomona
(Oct. 30).
The CCAA Conference Championship will take
place on the weekend of November 5-7 at a site yet to be
determined.
In 2003, Cal State Dominguez Hills won its
fifth consecutive CCAA Central Division Title with an 11-1-2
record while finishing 17-3-2 overall, including a record of
13-2-0 at home. CSUDH was upset in the first-round of the NCAA
playoffs by eventual NCAA runner-up Chico State, 2-1, on a
game-winning goal with just :24-seconds to play in regulation.
2004 ticket prices are $4.00 for adults; $2.00
for Non-CSUDH students with I.D. and senior citizens (62+); CSUDH
students, faculty/staff and children under 12 are admitted free of
charge.
