CARSON, Calif.--Senior forward Nikki Szlak (Long Beach, CA/Los Alamitos HS) tallied the game-winner, and Rachele McDonald (Ventura, CA/Buena HS) scored two more goals to propel the Cal State Dominguez Hills women's soccer team to a 4-0 win over Cal State Monterey Bay in California Collegiate Athletic Association action Sunday afternoon at Toro Field.

The win is the fifth in six games for CSUDH who is now 5-3-0 overall and 1-1-0 in CCAA play. CSUMB falls to 1-3-1 overall and 1-2-0 in league action.

It didn't take long for the Toros to take control in this one with Szlak knocking in her second goal of the year in the 2nd minute of play. Szlak took a pass up the middle from Amy Livergood (Torrance, CA/N. Torrance HS) and Corrie Hirokawa (Torrance, CA/N. Torrance HS) and knocked her shot to the far post from the left side past Otter goalie Mallory Carroll who was drawn out on the play.

The score stayed that way until the 61st minute when Livergood scored a goal of her own taking a rebound from the goalie and sent her shot to the back of the netting from 12 yards away for the 2-0 lead.

McDonald then connected for her first goal of the game six minutes later in the 68th minute. McDonald took a perfect pass through the middle from Szlak then beat Carroll one-on-one to the far post from 10 yards out. She connected for her second goal, and team-leading sixth of the season, in the 83rd minute. McDonald collected a rebound from the keeper off her own shot then calmly chipped the ball over the goalie from 12 yards away for the 4-0 final.

CSUDH enjoyed a 29-6 shot advantage and a 6-0 margin in corner kicks. Mallory Dominguez (San Pedro, CA/Mary Star of the Sea HS) made three saves in the game for the Toros to earn her first shutout of the season.

Cal State Dominguez Hills will travel to La Jolla on Wednesday, September 22 to take on No. 15 UC San Diego. First kick is set for 7:00 PM.
