Complete Box Score

CARSON, Calif.--Francisco Corona (Compton, CA/Compton HS) assisted on three goals and the Toros used a balanced attack with five different players registering goals in a 5-1 California Collegiate Athletic Association win over visiting Cal State San Bernardino Saturday afternoon at Toro Field.

With the win, CSUDH runs its unbeaten streak to seven games and is now 7-2-1 overall and 3-0-1 in league action. CSUSB falls to 2-7-0 overall and is still in search of its first win with a 0-4-0 conference mark.

Midfielder Adrian Szasz (Stroudsburg, PA) put the Toros on the board in the 26th minute with his third goal of the year. Szasz took a direct kick from 19 yards out and froze the keeper for a 1-0 lead.

Under two minutes later in the 27th minute, freshman forward Kei Kamara (Lawndale, CA/Leuzinger HS) registered his team-leading eighth goal of the year on a header off a corner kick. Michael Jimenez (Gardena, CA/Bishop Montgomery HS) served a perfect ball that skimmed off Nathan Reeves (Lakewood, CA/Lakewood HS) to the head of Kamara making it 2-0.

CSUSB trimmed the lead to 2-1 in the 32nd minute when Miguel Espinoza drilled a nice one-time shot past Toro goalie Kyle Polak (Huntington Beach, CA/Fountain Valley HS) to the bottom left corner of the net.

San Bernardino had to play a man down after Coyote player Kenny Castellanos was sent off the field with a red card in the 69th minute. Rick Cobb (Downey, CA/Warren HS) took advantage just over two minutes later taking a nice feed across the top of the penalty box and buried his shot to the far post for a 3-1 lead.

Reserve forward Edgar Guzman (Long Beach, CA/Long Beach CC) made it 4-1 in the 83rd minute taking a nice flick from the endline by Corona and headed his shot past Coyote goalie Joe Kulm. Ryan Taylor (Chino Hills, CA/Ayala HS) closed out the scoring in the 87th minute with his first goal of the season. Corona found Taylor at the top of the box who drilled a low shot past the keeper to the back of the net for the final, 5-1.

CSUDH controlled the action most of the day holding a 20-6 shot advantage, including a 9-0 edge on corner kicks. Polak had to make only one save on the day in between the pipes for the Toros to gain the win.

Cal State Dominguez Hills will try to extend its unbeaten streak on Wednesday, September 29 hosting cross-town rival Cal State L.A. First kick is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
