CARSON, Calif.--The Cal State Dominguez Hills
women's soccer team received five goals from five different
players as they cruised to a 5-0 shutout victory over visiting San
Francisco State in California Collegiate Athletic Association
action Friday afternoon at Toro Field.
The win is the fifth in the past six games for
the Toros who are now 10-4-1 overall and 6-2-1 in league play.
SFSU drops to 2-10-2 and 1-6-2 in CCAA conference action.
Senior forward Kristen Walsh (Lakewood,
CA/Mayfair HS) started the scoring early for CSUDH in just the
fourth minute of play. Walsh got the ball on a nice pass from the
left side from Corrie Hirokawa (Torrance, CA/N. Torrance HS) that
just touched the defender's foot. Walsh quickly collected and
slipped her shot in right at the mouth of the goal for the 1-0
advantage.
Sophomore Rachele McDonald (Ventura, CA/Buena
HS) made it 2-0 in the 40th minute when she knocked in her
team-high 10th goal of the year. Tara Senff (Palos Verdes, CA/So.
Torrance HS) took a long pass down the right side by Michelle Sena
(San Pedro, CA/San Pedro HS), and sent in a beautiful cross pass
inside the box to McDonald who beat the keeper to the near post.
Freshman midfielder Amy Livergood (Torrance,
CA/N. Torrance HS) tallied her second goal of the year in the 53rd
minute taking a nice pass inside the box from Hirokawa, and
slotting her shot just inside the near post past the keeper for a
3-0 lead.
Hirokawa continued the scoring barrage in the
75th minute when she registered her seventh goal of the year on a
brilliant individual effort. The freshman forward stripped the
ball from a Gator defender in the defensive third, beat the goalie
and tapped her shot into the open net for a 4-0 lead.
Senff completed the scoring in the 85th minute
taking a nice pass from Walsh in front of the goal with the goalie
off her line. Senff tapped home her shot into the open net to the
far post for the final score, 5-0.
Cal State Dominguez Hills dominated in the
first half outshooting the Gators 10-0. CSUDH finished with a 19-7
shot advantage in the game. Mallory Dominguez (San Pedro, CA/Mary
Star of the Sea HS) was solid in between the posts today for the
