Complete Box Score

CARSON, Calif.--Junior forward Francisco Corona (Compton, CA/Compton HS) scored on a breakaway with three minutes left in regulation to give Cal State Dominguez Hills a 3-2 win over Sonoma State University in California Collegiate Athletic Association action Sunday afternoon at Toro Field.

The win extends the Toros unbeaten streak to 13 games and are now 12-2-2 overall and atop the CCAA North Division with a 8-0-2 record. Sonoma State falls to 8-6-2 overall and 4-5-1 in CCAA play.

Corona's game-winner came with 86:51 on the scoreboard taking a beautiful pass over the defense from Adrian Szasz (Stroudsburg, PA), and dribbled forty yards before beating SSU goalie Clark Rupp one-on-one to the near post from eight yards out. The goal was Corona's 10th of the year.

Kei Kamara (Lawndale, CA/Leuzinger HS) put the Toros up 1-0 in the 16th minute of play taking a pass from Jason Koza (La Habra, CA/La Serna HS) and beat Rupp to the far post for his team-leading 13th goal of the season.

But the Seawolves answered back to tie the game just four minutes later on a goal from Andrew Bailey at 19:29. Mike Travis sent in a cross that Bailey knocked in to the far post to make it 1-1.

In the 37th minute, Jesse Graham (San Diego, CA/Point Loma HS) took a nifty pass inside the penalty box from Koza then drilled his shot inside the left post to put the Toros back up, 2-1.

The score stayed there until the 66th minute when Sonoma State answered once again to knot the score. Michael Nathan accepted a pass from Brian Coyne and hit the far post from the left side on a difficult angle to make it 2-2.

But CSUDH's defense would shutout SSU the rest of the way, which set up Corona's heroics late in the game. Cal State Dominguez Hills controlled the play for most of the game outshooting the Seawolves 23-11 in the match. Kyle Polak (Huntington Beach, CA/Fountain Valley HS) got the win in between the pipes for the Toros making four saves. SSU netminder Clark Rupp was solid all day making 11 saves in the game.

CSUDH is back in league action on Wednesday traveling to Cal State San Bernardino to take on the Coyotes at 4 PM.
