BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--The weather wasn't
hospitable, but that made little difference to the University of
Hawaii-Hilo as the Vulcans took a commanding 12-stroke lead after
the first 36 holes of the seventh annual Elco, Inc.
Intercollegiate Golf Tournament Monday at Bakersfield Country
Club.
The Vulcans need only shoot par Tuesday to
equal Chico State's tournament-record 12 under set last season.
Hilo leads second-place Cal State San Marcos 564-576. No. 12
ranked St. Martin's College of Lacey, Wash. is third at one-over
577. Cal State Monterey Bay (577) and No. 4 ranked Cal State
BaAfter the first day, Kyle Wilson led the Toros at seven-over 151
(78/73) which placed him in a tie for 50th-place after the first
two rounds. L.C. Honore (154-76/78), Jason Olguin (155-78/77),
Zach Zehnder (156-82/74) and Matt Giamberdino (166-82/84) rounded
out the team scoring (616) after the first 36 holes. kersfield
(578) round out the top five.
CSUDH finds themselves in 17th place entering
the final round on Tuesday morning at Bakersfield Country Club.
