SAN BERNARDINO -- After a scoreless first half, Cal State Dominguez Hills dominated Cal State San Bernardino in the second period as Ryan Taylor and Marco Flores teamed up for a pair of goals en route to a 3-0 shutout of the Coyotes in CSUSB's final home match of the 2004 season.

The victory, the sixth straight for the Toros, keeps them unbeaten in the CCAA and in first place in the South Division at 10-0-2 (14-2-2 overall) as they face Cal State L.A. and Cal Poly Pomona before hosting the CCAA championship tournament on Nov. 5-7.

An stifling Toros defense limited the Coyotes to just four shots on goal the entire 90 minutes, two of which were stopped by Toros goalkeeper Kyle Polak, who picked up his seventh shutout of the season.

The Coyotes held their own in the first half although the Toros forced the action in the host's side of the field. CSUSB goalkeeper Joe Kulm made three of his nine saves in the opening 45 minutes in a 0-0 tie.

The Toros, ranked No. 11 in the nation and No. 2 in the Far West Region, got their first real break of the match in the 57th minute when Kulm came out to challenge Toros forward Kei Kamara near the 18-yard line and disrupted Kamara's attempt at a shot but a Coyote defender inadvertently kicked the loose ball into the open net for an "own goal."

A minute later, Taylor got his first goal of the match on an 18-yard blast from a pass from Flores for a 2-0 Toros lead. The visitors added frosting on the cake with another goal by Taylor,t his one coming in the 85th minute on a header in the box after a crossing pass from Flores.

At one point, the Toros had three shots on goal denied by Kulm in a brief flurry near the end of the match.

The Coyotes (4-13 overall) are now 2-10 in the CCAA and finish up the season on the road at UC San Diego Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. and at Cal State L.A. on Saturday at 3 p.m. CSUSB finished up 2-6 at home in CCAA play.
