LOS ANGELES -- Tessa Troglia scored in the
opening minute of the game and Grisell Ramirez scored in the
opening minute of the second half, but 18th-ranked Cal State
Dominguez Hills got two goals from Kristen Walsh as the Golden
Eagles and Toros played to a 3-3 tie on Wednesday night at Jesse
Owens Track.
CSULA now stands 8-8-2, 5-6-2 CCAA, while CSUDH

Troglia got Cal State L.A. on the board early,
taking a pass from Nancy Uribe and scoring just 16 seconds into
the match. Walsh would tie it up at 1-1 at the 18:17 mark, but
CSULA would get a rebound goal by Lisa Gouveia as the Golden
Eagles took a 2-1 lead into halftime.
CSULA made it 3-1 as Ramirez found the back of
the net for her ninth goal of the year just 46 seconds into the
second half. The Toros answered immediately as Corrie Hirokawa
tallied an unassisted goal just 66 seconds later, trimming the
margin back to one goal at 3-2. Walsh tied the game at 3-3 with
her second goal of the game, this one coming at the 58:52 mark.
The teams battled back and forth with several
quality scoring chances, but neither team could score over the
next 50 minutes of soccer as the match ended in a 3-3 tie. Reyna
Coca stopped six shots in goal for CSULA while Mallory Dominguez
made four saves for CSUDH.
Cal State L.A. wraps up the 2004 regular season
on Saturday hosting Cal State San Bernardino in a doubleheader
starting at 12:30 p.m. A win or tie on Saturday afternoon by the
Golden Eagles would mark the first winning season in the history
of the CSULA women's soccer program. CSUDH heads to Cal Poly
Pomona on Saturday in a match that will have an impact on next
weekend's CCAA Tournament.
