McDonald, a sophomore from Ventura, CA, led the
Toros to a 12-5-3 overall and 8-3-3 CCAA regular season record and
the teams second-straight berth in the CCAA Championship
Tournament, the sixth time the Toros have qualified for the CCAA
Tournament over the past seven years. McDonald finished the
regular season as the CCAA leader in goals scored (11), goals per
game average (0.58), points (25) and points per game (1.32).
Additionally, McDonald tied for the league lead in game winning
goals with four.
Rachele has been tremendous for
us this year, says Head Coach Joe Flanagan. We had
high expectations for her this year and she didnt let us
down. We are looking forward to a great weekend in the league
championship tournament, as well as two more solid years.
Senior midfielder Nikki Szlak (Long Beach,
CA/Los Alamitos HS) and junior defender Elizabeth Arreola (Redondo
Beach, CA/Redondo Union HS), along with freshman forward Corrie
Hirokawa (Torrance, CA/North Torrance HS) and freshman defender
Sandra Lloyd (Fountain Valley, CA/Fountain Valley HS) all were
selected to the All-CCAA Second-Team. Szlak recorded a team-high 8
assists, which ties for the CCAAs top mark, and currently is
third on the team in total points (14), while Hirokawa tallied 8
goals and 19 points on the year, tying for the 3rd- and
5th-highest totals in conference, respectively. Arreola, who
receives her second-consecutive Second-Team All-CCAA nod, and
Lloyd anchored a stingy defense that notched seven shutouts on the
season, including five just last month.
Senior midfielder Kristen Walsh (Lakewood,
CA/Mayfair HS) was named to the All-CCAA Third-Team, marking the
second-consecutive year Walsh has earned the all-conference honor,
while freshman midfielder Amy Livergood (Torrance, CA/North
Torrance HS), who along with Lloyd were the only two Toros to
start all 20 games, receives her first career All-CCAA honor. |
