Lawrence Walker's driving layup with just over ten seconds left tied the score in regulation, 75-75. CSUDH had two tries in the final seconds to win the game, however, Les Norman (Lebanon, IL/Lebanon HS) and Saul Lankster's (Long Beach, CA/Compton Centennial HS) shots just missed.

In overtime, Norman's tip-in with 1:29 left gave the Toros a 85-84 lead. However, Tyler Hayes trey in the next possession gave the Hawks an 87-85 lead that they would not relinquish. CHC made three of four free throws in the final minute to seal the win.

Cal State Dominguez Hills (0-2) took a 39-36 lead into the half and led by as many as ten points in the second period, 65-55, with 8:38 remaining after a pair of free throws by Norman. Christian Heritage (4-2) used a 16-8 spurt over the next six minutes to trim the lead down to two points, 73-71, with 1:51 left highlighted by a Landon Lockhart three-pointer. Two free throws by CSUDH's Quenton Harvey (Compton, CA/Cleveland HS) pushed the lead back up to four points, 75-71, but Walker hit a jumper with just over a minute left, then sent the game into overtime on his layup with 10.6 ticks left on the clock.

Norman led all scorers with 26 points on the night but only shot 8-21 from the field for the Toros. He also added a team-high nine boards. Harvey poured in 16 points for CSUDH, while Lankster chipped in with 14.
