Up by only two at the break, 35-33, CSUDH (2-2,
2-0 CCAA) outscored Sonoma by twenty points in the second half
paced by Bailey and freshman guard Jessica Liang (Alhambra,
CA/Mark Keppel HS) who drained three 3-point baskets in the second
half, finishing with 11 points on the night.
The Toros built a nine point lead after the
first six minutes of the second half, 54-45, after Bailey hit a
jumper inside the paint with 14:22 left. The Seawolves would cut
the lead down to 56-50 after a long-range make by Jessica Jennings
with 12:52 remaining. But Liang would hit back-to-back treys in
the next two CSUDH possessions to give the Toros a double-digit
lead, 62-50, with 11:21 on the clock.
Cal State Dominguez Hills used an aggressive
pressure defense to hold the Seawolves to 4-of-14 shooting from
the floor the rest of the way, including 0-for-4 from behind the
arc, while building leads of 23 points twice down the stretch
eventually settling for the 90-68 victory.
In the game, CSUDH shot .544 from the field
including a blazing .571 in the second half. After Bailey's
game-high 18 points, Liang and junior point guard Tameka Blue
