Hills' men's basketball team slid by the Cal State Stanislaus
Warriors Friday night, 69-67, after securing a turnover and
driving down the court, hitting a layup with just four seconds on
the clock.
CSUDH senior guard Les Norman stole the ball
and drove down the court for the winning shot after senior guard
Jeremiah King turned the ball over in the Warrior lane.
The win improves the Toros to 3-9 overall and
2-3 in the CCAA while the Warriors suffer their 10th loss of the
season and are now 2-10 overall and 0-4 in the conference.
After taking a 27-21 lead into the
intermission, the Warriors thundered to a 19-point lead, 45-26,
barely five minutes into the second half. But the Toros responded
with a 16-5 run over the next six minutes to cut the Warrior lead
to eight, 50-42, with 9:45 on the clock.
The Toros fought back and tied it with four
minutes left in the game and took a two point lead into the final
two minutes.
CSUSs junior forward Kavin Young hit a
pair of free throws at the 1:58 mark to know up the game.
The Warriors were able to grab a turnover and
force a missed three-pointer, but not get a shot off in the final
minute, losing the ball twice.
Norman led all scorers with 29 points and Eric
Crookshank posted the games only double-double with 15 points and
13 rebounds.
Young led the Warriors with 17 points. junior
guard Jessie Satterfield and senior forward Rick Fetter had 11 for
the Warriors.
The Toros will be back in action on Saturday,
Jan. 15, as they travel on to Chico State.
